Le Potager Extraordinaire

Le Potager Extraordinaire

Established in La Mothe-Achard until 2018, the Potager Extraordinaire, now rooted in La Roche-sur-Yon, offers visitors the chance to discover over 1,000 atypical and sometimes endangered varieties of vegetables. In a unique seven-hectare setting, knowledge transfer, preservation of plant heritage and humor combine to (re)discover vegetable gardening techniques and raise visitors' awareness of their food future.

The park's ambition? To arouse visitors' curiosity about plants, with six themed areas including a bizarretum, an experimental kitchen garden and an exotic kitchen garden. It's a veritable voyage of discovery of the world's plants, thanks in particular to guided tours that make the offer a complete and instructive medium for all. It's an opportunity to fill up on innovative ideas for your garden, and to marvel at some amazing plant oddities, such as plants that dance or explode, and unexpected colors and shapes.

The dahlia, originally a food plant, has its place in the vegetable garden! 250 m² are dedicated to dahlia trials, where you can discover the future dahlia to adorn your gardens, parks or bouquets. In the “Erotic Life of the Vegetable Garden” area, they are used to explain part of the sexuality of plants.
